PhD Guidelines

PhD Theses – Guidelines

Typically, PhD students are externally founded or (more rarely) self-founded. Information on scholarships for international graduate students can be found on the ICU’s website.

The University’s brochure can be downloaded here, while the Graduate School’s one is here.

In terms of supervision, I am happy to consider advising prospective doctoral students – in excellent academic standing – who wish to work on one of the following areas:

  1. International History (including Historiography)
  2. International Organization (especially their bureaucratic pathologies)
  3. The United Nations (especially the UN Secretariat)
  4. Genocide Studies
  5. Diplomacy (especially Diplomatic History)
  6. International Relations (excluding theory-centred research)
  7. Art History and International Relations (including issues of cultural restitution)

However, kindly note that given my research leave at Oxford University, I will not be able to supervise any research students until September 2025.

Should you be interested, please download and fill out the following form (in Word or PDF) with some preliminary info on your idea and email it to me, alongside a CV and a motivation letter.
