Rotary Peace Fellow
Sierra Leone
Ibrahim holds an MSc. in Governance and Leadership from the Institute of Public Administration and Management and a BSc. with Honours in Peace and Conflict Resolution from Fourah Bay College, University of Sierra Leone. His passion for education and service to humanity has been his footprint. In Sierra Leone, Ibrahim has been advocating for the rights of vulnerable children including those facing domestic violence and in the streets. Believing that children are the gem of society and the future leaders, his organization, Campaign for Children Sierra Leone, promotes and advocates for children’s rights. In addition, he also worked for the United Nations Development Programme in Sierra Leone as a civic education enumerator, where he had direct contact with respondents to gauge their knowledge on civic education. Ibrahim has also served as a teacher for several years at the Government Municipal Secondary School and at the IDEMSIL Institute of Science and Technology, where he encouraged students to be productive citizens and agents of change. He further served in volunteer capacity at the Kissy Brook Community in Freetown as a community organizer. There, he mobilized youths to embark on community development programs and training, so as to rebuild their lives and society after the decade-long civil war in Sierra Leone ended. Ibrahim’s research focuses on electoral violence in developing countries. He wants to know why elections, which are supposed to enhance political stability and democracy, can also become a threat to peace.
